The Pillot family, now headed by the father-sons team of Laurent, Romain, and Simon, has been farming in the Cote Chalonnaise for six generations. Over time, their domaine has become one of the most dependable names in Mercurey for great value Pinot Noir. Their humble Bourgogne Pinot Noir is drawn from young vines on their 17 hectare Domaine, and it perfectly captures the character of this beautiful vintage: ethereal, silky, and bright yet impressively complex. Aromas include dewey fresh raspberry and strawberry, with earth, heather, and a touch of pepper-cured bacon. The palate is light to medium in weight, seamlessly woven together with fresh acids and light tannins, presenting flavors of red berries with a little orange peel, touches of cardamom and cinnamon before a crisp finish. For improved freshness and zip, this wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel.
