Vin Jaune is just about the most labor intensive, most esoteric, and least sensible wine made in the world. It is a style of wine born in Jura and only survived there through the dogged determination of local winemakers who knew they had a good thing going, and the relative obscurity of the area through the modern age of wine making and marketing. 

For a new world winery to try to copy this style of wine is completely absurd, but for Luke Wylde and Meredith Bell, chasing starlight like this is always worthwhile. This barrel of Chardonnay spent seven years under a developed layer of flor, and tastes spectacularly like Vin Jaune. Rich, spicy, yeasty, and intense.
