There is a sliver of space between rosé and red where something special happens. Wines that live here can offer all the depth, complexity, and amplitude of reds, paired to all the verve, zest, and amperage of rosé. Wines that get it just right are rare, but when it happens - the way it has happened with this Savoyard Gamay - it is unlike anything else. Aromas come one atop another like you're parachuting through a cloud made of fresh picked fruit: cranberry, raspberry, gooseberry, huckleberry, and then also granite and oregano and thyme. The palate is an electric current strong enough to launch a starship into warp, but as formless as an alpine brook, with strawberries and cherries bouncing merrily along over wet stones. This wine is simply, beautifully, incredible.
