Problem solving in action. Winemaker Mike Hinds found himself with Gruner Veltliner from the chilly 2022 vintage that he wasn't quite satisfied with; it didn't have enough flavor. He decided to experiment with it, by putting it in a neutral tank for another year, and allowing that thin layer of flor to develop. This yeasty blanket is an important flavor component of some of the world's most famous wines, and through 2023 it did magical things to Mike's Gruner Veltliner. Now it has more depth, creamier texture, and a gentle nuttiness that accentuates the slow developing fruit.
