Mateus Nicolau de Almeida is heir to an old, established domaine in Monte Xisto, a flagship estate of the eastern Duoro valley. Mateus has taken his family's name several steps further, making fantastic wines up and down the Douro valley highlighting the region's unique regions, vineyards and, in his Curral Teles line of wines, the inventive spirit of winemaking. The Lambda is a white made from the Rabigato grape, Mateus lets his barrels for the Lambda develop a layer of flor yeast that adds a nutty, sherry-like biological element to the wines, a delicious layer of flavor that sits naturally next to the wine's rich, mineral crusted notes. A real treat on it's own, the Lambda should also pair neatly with exotic seafood, paella, or chicken dishes.
