The Quinta do Poco do Lobo is a winery that exists out of time and nearly out of place. For decades, this winery produced some of the most exquisite, profound, and ageworthy wines made in Portugal. Curiously, they didn't take the extra step of selling any of it. This Reserva Tinto is made mostly from the Baga variety native to coastal Portugal. Enduringly earthy, with a strong waft of tobacco, elegantly rendered baking spices, loads of dark fruit and delicate, sandy soil. This is a wine to enjoy at the fireside, with perfectly cooked steak, simply seasoned.
